2009 P-51B Mustang is followup to 2008 P-51A

ROUSH has announced its second aviation-themed Mustang paying homage to the legendary World War II fighter planes. The 2009 P-51B Mustang joins the P-51A (seen last year) in ROUSH’s aviation inspired pony cars. The P-15B Mustang will see a limited production run of just 51 units but ROUSH is quick to say that it may build some extra units for the press and testing.

Appearance wise the 2009 P-51B Mustang comes in Vapor paint with Olive Drab green stripes. ROUSH designers added black-chrome wheels, a ROUSH vent pod gauge with a boost gauge, Cooper RS3 high-performance tires, a rear decklid and ROUSH’s 6-piece aerobody kit. Inside you’ll find P-51B badging on the shifter ball, floor mats and the leather seats.

Power comes from a 4.6L supercharged V8 that pumps out 510-hp with a maximum torque of 510 lb-ft. Performance was increased with upgrades to the clutch and custom-calibration for the ECM to manage the performance of the TVS2300 ROUSHcharger. ROUSH also added 6-piston brakes and its Stage 3 suspension for extra stopping and handling power.
Pricing for starts at $65,800. All ROUSH cars are available with a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty.

Action Mobil:New Globecruiser model—first picture

The new Globecruiser model—first picture below—fits the bill nicely. Due for a shakedown trip to Africa in April 2009, it’s based on the MAN TGA 6×6 platform—as occasionally used by Unicat, that other purveyor of expedition excess.

The two fuel tanks hold 219 gallons. A refill costs enough to put an Icelandic bank out of business, but if you can afford the Globecruiser’s €490,000 ($670,000) sticker price, you can afford $800 at the pump.

Motive power comes from a giant 783ci turbodiesel, which pumps out a very healthy 388 kW. (Actually, make that a fairly healthy 388 kW—this mill doesn’t meet the latest EURO 5 regulations, but EURO 3 isn’t too bad considering.)

The water capacity is equally awe-inspiring at 154 gallons, which no doubt contributes to the Globecruiser’s 21-ton weight. So don’t ask what the mileage is. But if that makes you feel guilty, check out the 4 x 240W solar system, which supplements the batteries and LPG tanks. Drivers are well looked after too, with heated air-suspension seats, and satellite systems to provide pinpoint navigation to the nearest водка bar.

You probably won’t bump into Al Gore driving an Action Mobil. But if you’re a well-heeled survivalist, a Mad Max re-enactor or a Robb Report reader, get your PA to call +43 6582 72712-0. And get Stephan on the line.

Action Mobil’s website is rather dodgy, but whatever. These guys are engineers, not online marketing specialists. Around 250 expedition vehicles have rolled out of the Saalfelden werks since 1979, and the company recently delivered the world’s largest all-wheel-drive motorhome to a client in the Middle East. (Where gas prices are presumably of little concern.)

Schumacher Helps develop a brand new helmet for motorcycles

Schumacher and racing go hand in hand, and now that Michael has left Formula 1 he has been spotted on motorcycles with different levels of success ranging from a pro-amateur series win to a nasty crash. And even if motorcycle racing and Formula 1 have only a few things in common, helmets require the same attention to detail.

Michael Schumacher has used Schuberth helmets throughout his F1 career and has now helped develop a brand new helmet with the German company. The first helmet he brought his wealth of experience to is the Schuberth Race. The extremely lightweight and aerodynamic helmet is packed with technical and safety innovations because there simply is no room for error.

Michael said: “Attention to detail has always been particularly important to me, and I don’t intend to leave anything to chance in the future either.” Henry Rivers Fletcher of Oxford Products (UK importers for Schuberth), commented: “We expect some great results from this relationship as the former champ channels some of his renowned perfectionism into the evolution of Schuberth products.”

Pricing and further information will be released closer to the helmet's release date.

Baby Ferrari caught again

Everyone knows that Ferrari is hatching a baby the size of some popular German roadsters. What we don’t know yet, is whether Dino, F149 or California GT will be on the name badge. The pictures shown are the newest on the block, revealing the car for the first time without its notorious hunchback that’s been a trademark ever since we first spied this Ferrari testing.

Ferrari is not isolated from the rest of the world, and as such they are working on ways to impress the green cops. One of these is of course the turbo which is rumoured to be on its way back to Formula One where Ferrari tests a lot of their future on-road technology. Engine upfront, two doors, driven by the rear wheels. We sincerely hope that underneath what is probably one of the ugliest ducklin camouflage jobs out there, is a princely swan.

Ford Europe launches new top shelf Mondeo - the Titanium X Sport

Ford is going sportier with the new Mondeo by adding the Titanium X Sport versions on the existing range. Titanium X Sport brings with it several changes to the Mondeo, changes like a new 2.2-litre TDCi engine which puts out 35PS more than its 2.0-litre sibling. That accelerates to 62 mph from nothing in 8.4 seconds with a top end of 139 mph. Environment is priority of course so the engine produces only 165 g/km in emissions as well as an average fuel consumption figure of 45.6 mpg. The petrol car stays with its 2.5-litre turbo engine.

Taking care of the looks department are 18-inch alloys, twin chromed exhaust pipes, side skirts, piano black inlays, leather/alcantara seats and red stitching detail. It all may sound a little 1970s Afro but it really works. Titanium X Sport also gets itself an advanced Bluetooth connection, alloy pedals, sports suspension and bi-xenon lights. The in-dash 6-CD Sony changer is a real party-starter. Good thing too because it comes standard with Titanium X Sport.

Pricing for the cars start from £23,355 (5 door) and £26,605 (estate) on the road for United Kingdom.
