Geneva Debut : Aston Martin DBS Volante and Vantage V12

First up is the convertible version of the DBS. The iconic Bond-mobile, whose name may have finally been determined, will make for a stunning drop-top. Not unlike arch-rival Ferrari, which took the 430 Scuderia and crossed it with the F430 Spider to create the 16M Scuderia Spider, Aston will take the fixed-roof DBS and put it in a room together with the DB9 Volante, dim the lights, put on some Boys2Men and let nature run its course.

Aston Martin doesn't have a huge product range. In fact, until the Rapide and One-77 come along, its line-up essentially boils down to two models: the Vantage and the DB9. And if reports coming straight from Switzerland are to be believed, the now-independent British sportscar company is descending on the Geneva Motor Show next month with new top-of-the-line variants of both.

Reportedly joining the DBS Volante/Roadster will be the production V12 Vantage RS. Forgot about that one? It's easy when Aston keeps serving up delectable new flagship supercars, so we'll scribble the recipe down for you again: take one V8 Vantage and the 600-hp V12 engine from the DBRS9 race car. Add louvers, spoilers, carbon fiber and alcantara. Shake (don't stir). Production should be very limited, and performance should be blistering. Stay tuned.

New Images and Video for Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro in Depth

It's been quite a journey for the R8 V10, from the various spy pictures to the infamous spy video where the test car accidentally caught fire at the Nurburgring right up until it was officially detailed in early December 2008. That journey ends when it becomes available in Germany from the second quarter of 2009 at a base price of €142,400 (US$183,000).

Click on the video to hear one of the most glorious sounds a petrol engine can make. This is the sound of the Audi R8 V10, the most powerful Audi sports car ever made. The engine is a 258kg 5.2-litre naturally aspirated mill that pushes out 525hp (386kW) and 530Nm of torque. It can rev up to 8,700rpm and achieves a specific power output of 100.9hp per litre . Audi says it will help the car burst from 0 - 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and go on until it reaches 316 km/h (196.35 mph). The Audi R8 V10 is said to return average fuel consumption figures of 13.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (17.17 US mpg).

The interior is fitted with fine Nappa leather seats, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and other optional extras that include a Bluetooth interface, front spoiler, a rear diffuser and side blades.

Two transmission options are available; a 6-speed manual transmission and an R tronic sequential gearbox that can be actuated via peddles or the gear lever. R tronic can also be set to change gears automatically. There is a launch control application for both transmissions. Quattro AWD sends power to all four 19-inch wheels (with a rear-wheel bias), which are planted to the ground via 235/35 front tyres and 295/30 rear tyres. Customers have the option of buying ceramic brakes to go with them.

Geneva: Wiesmann GT MF4 Roadster BMW M3 with heart

If the speculation will correct Wies Mann Geneva unveil the roadster version of the GT MF4. And therein, in addition to the already known 367 hp 4.8 liter V8 from BMW, the block of the BMW M3 (4.0 V8 420 hp) are available.

In his dense brother, the GT MF4, the M3 block all at once become available. It is not confirmed, but the appearance of a roadster version of the MF4 probably means the end for the MF3 Roadster. Because in this model is the 3.2 six-in-line BMW M engine that recently went out of production. For the Roadster MF3 Wies Mann has no engine and therefore will be stopped with this model.

For the people by the letters and numbers no longer know the different models, below a small overview:

Roadster MF4 (4.8 V8, 367 hp, induction in Geneva)
Roadster MF4-S (4.0 V8, 420 hp M3 engine, introduced in Geneva)

GT MF4 (4.8 V8, 367 hp, all available)
MF4 GT-S (4.0 V8, 420 hp M3 engine immediately available)

GT MF5 (5.0 V10, 507 hp M5 engine, already available)

And next year Roadster MF5?

Marcello Felipe_ 2009 Renault New Alpine Concept Design

Brazilian design student Marcello Felipe Maggioni brings us this rendering of a Renault sports car. The design pays homage to the 1987 Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo, a car that in turn had inspired Marcello himself to be a car designer.

The four front headlights are highlighted by the use of two LED light strips above each pair on either side. Rear lights also feature LED technology but with an added 3D effect. The engine is a Renault F1 powerplant modified for road usage. It's there for all to see under a large glass cover just behind the two seats.

Marcello is studying a course called Design of Mobility - Transportation Design, at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado in São Paulo, Brazil. Perhaps the day when Renault builds its awaited Alpine sports car, a design similar to his one will emerge.

Several characteristics were taken from the original Alpine GTA in order that a sort of lineage was maintained such that if a modern version of the car were built its history and heritage would be obvious to the eye. A few of these exterior design characteristics include large headlights that droop very low on the front grille. The flowing swoosh behind the C pillar has been retained but changed to suit a more futuristic look. It also serves the purpose of being an air inlet for the engine.

Pagani Zonda R Officially Unveiled

Looking for a Pagani Zonda R for sale? You’re not the only one.

Ever since Pagani released details of the Zonda R back in 2007, we’ve had a steady stream of enquiries. To be fair, most of those were from rubber-neckers looking for brochures or pictures; not serious buyers. But we have had a few very serious enquiries (although they may have had a change of heart if they were in banking, manufacturing, construction…!) and we’ve had to tell them the same thing; it’s going to happen, but we don’t know when.

But this week Pagani has finally got round to launching the Pagani Zonda R in Vienna.

The Zonda R is the final iteration of the Zonda before an all new model arrives sometime next year. But it’s not a road car. This is a Zonda built for the track, and there are only going to be 10 units built. And its not trying to homologate itself in to any racing series. This is just a pure and simple project to create the ultimate Zonda for the track, for a handful of very wealthy clients with

access to private tracks.

Lamborghini Sets Record Sales in 2008 despite economic turmoil

Lamborghini manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A has recorded worldwide growth in sales despite current financial and economic hard times. Global sales in 2008 increased 1% over the year 2007 from 2406 to 2430 units.

Although Lamborghini's biggest world market the US saw a decline of 20.3% representing 741 units sold instead of 930 units in 2007, other markets stepped up to offset that decline.

Detroit Auto Show: Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro World Debut

The R8 V10 will be the street going version of the R8 LMS that debuted a couple of weeks ago at the Essen Motor Show in Germany. It's 5.2L V10 is rated at 525 horsepower and 390.91 lb-ft of torque in European spec form.

Those numbers fall a bit shy of the latest Gallardo LP560-4 even with the same displacement, which ensures that the Lamborghini can still command a price premium over the German machine. The U.S. version of the R8 V10 should remain pretty close to these numbers.

That will be enough to push the 0-62 sprint under four seconds to 3.9 seconds. Unfortunately, the R8 is still saddled with the same craptastic 6-speed R-tronic as the only alternative to its proper manual gearbox. The R8 V10 now also inches closer to the magical 200 mph mark with a terminal velocity of 196 mph.

The V10 version gets a new set of all-LED headlights for both high and low beams and the scoops on the side blades now bulge out to suck in the extra air needed to feed and cool the larger engine. A new rear diffuser also helps keep the rear end planted where a set of twin oval tailpipes replace the quad exhausts on the standard model.

The R8 V10 will be available in Germany starting next spring with a base price of EUR 142,400 (approx $180,000) and will make its official debut in January at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. Follow the jump for Audi's official press release and check out the high-res images in our gallery below.

For those who still have sufficient cash-flow to purchase high end sports cars, the latest and greatest remains a must. In keeping with that reality, Audi is cranking up the juice on its flagship R8 sports car with the introduction of the R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro, which got an early reveal on the web today. The R8 shares some less visible bits with its corporate cousin, the Lamborghini Gallardo, but until now the Lambo's V10 engine has remained exclusive to the Italian side of the family.

Detroit Auto Show: Lamborghini presents highly individualized super sports cars

The only models introduced at the Lamborghini press event today had eating disorders and Lambo-level designer clothing. A gallery for men, women and dragons below.

Opening a Lamborghini press conference with bad techno music and waifish models wearing padded ski jackets and other clothes with the brand's logo emblazoned on it seems appropriate given the image the brand presents: pretentious vapid rich people with fake tans. It does present a fiction, though, as few beautiful people own a Murcielago and even fewer, we imagine, wear Lamborghini clothing.

Shiny Side Up: Reynard hits the street with the Inverter

The Reynard Inverter is built around a precision-crafted steel tube frame overlaid with either a carbon-fiber or fiberglass body with full race-spec suspension. Buyers can choose from a range of motorbike engines for propulsion, including the engines from the Honda Fireblade or Suzuki Hayabusa, mated to a paddle-shifted sequential transmission with full throttle-blipping, flat-shifting capabilities.

One of the leading race car manufacturers, Reynard has built the chassis for a wide range of formula racing series, Indy cars, touring cars...and have taken a room full of trophies to show for it. Their latest project is no less extreme in its performance, yet it is designed to be street legal (for our European friends) right from the start.

How many automakers, large and small, have referred to their latest ware as "race car for the road?" Too many to count, for sure. But if you're going to make a real race car for the road, where better to start than at an actual race car company? Take Reynard, for example.

The high-revving motorbike engines coupled with low weight (only 400 kg or 882 lbs fully fueled) promises to return Formula One levels of performance, with cornering forces exceeding 4g's. The Inverter can be ordered in race or street trim (which essentially means the choice between slick or treaded tires), but if you're wondering about the name, it's derived from the Inverter's (claimed) ability to drive upside down on a tunnel ceiling at 100 miles-per-hour, thanks to its tremendous downforce.

Now that the "race car for the road" mantle has been settled, we'd like to see someone build an upside-down race track to settle that score, too.

Nissan GT-R Spec V revealed

Nissan wishes to let Godzilla roar one more time with the internet reveal of the new Nissan GT-R Spec V edition. You have seen the spy shots and you have seen the spy videos across the web but now you can see the modified Godzilla GT-R in this recently released photo.

What makes this Spec V Nissan GT-R so special? Well for one under the hood there is a new high gear boost control device made specifically for the Spec V which "momentarily increases boost of the engine's twin turbochargers for greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges to provide a more powerful feeling of acceleration, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy."

Lexus LF-A Supercar Still Alive Despite Cost Cuts

What is expected to end up happening is that the 500hp Lexus will be built to a limited number of only 500 examples. Whether that includes the cabriolet or not remains to be seen.

Toyota is really serious about bringing to market the Lexus LF-A sports car by 2011. This despite the current economic situation, especially pronounced in the financial services and automobile manufacturing sectors. The company is holding firm on its commitment to Formula One as well, even though "to keep it up at the current level [of spending] is extremely difficult", according to CEO Katsuaki Watanabe. Rival Honda recently pulled the plug on its NSX as well as its F1 programme.

Earlier this year the LF-A teased crowds at the Nurburgring 24 hours and more recently at Toyota's Motorsport Festival at the Fuji Speedway. A small number of LF-A prototypes are rumoured to be on a short list to compete at various racing championships once again in 2009.

Lotec released 2009 Sirius sketches

The name of Lotec you are probably familiar: It is a small German preparer who beyond his work on tuning the cars made of the mark to the star, has also embarked on many projects more ambitious. There had been the single C1000, 850-horsepower supercar built at the request of a wealthy emir. Lotec had also dwelt on a Ferrari Testarossa with the key to a monster of 780 horses.

Christmas is not likely to arrive late this year: SSC Aero, Gumpert Apollo or even the amazing Danish Zenvo ST1, means of locomotion supersonic no shortage at this time of Eve. This is just an old sea serpent appears to join the party.

Finally, Lotec became known delirious with Sirius, a supercar whose drawing (rather heavy) dates back to 1992 and who intends to display more than 1,200 horses to a top speed of over 400 km / h.

And to get back to days at a time when more than one thousand of horses is no longer a sufficient means to distinguish itself, provides a new Lotec Sirius for the year 2009. Obviously, it is still at the stage of photoshop but there is no doubt that his claims should be up to its predecessor.

Detroit Auto Show : Revenge Designs GTM-R supercar to debut

A new 'all-American' supercar will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show by 'Revenge Designs' - a tuner of GM products such as the Pontiac GTO and Solstice. Revenge Designs first shot to notoriety on its collaboration with renowned American tuners Lingenfelter, which resulted in the limited edition Pontiac GTO Lingenfelter Signature Series - the same car that won GM's award last year for the "Best Exterior Design" at SEMA.

Christian Audi Gier I do not ring bells, but a brief glance at the website of this brand predicts little good. This is further confirmed by the following image gallery, which we may enjoy include death heads in the interior.

The specs of the LP710, where there are only 5, will be made, were already known. It is a 6.5 liter V12 with 700 hp and 710 Nm at the rear wheels. The sprint from 0-100 in 3.2 seconds is. The top speed is over 360 km / h.

Bugatti Veyron modified by Mansory

Customized Bugatti Veyrons are almost as common as the cars themselves, which is to say not common at all.

But this particular car, modified by Mansory, is less common than even most other custom Veyrons. Little information about the car exists, though there appear to be as many as three examples of this particular styling package.Eschewing the popular matte-color trend of late, the Mansory Vincero is pure gloss from stem to stern.

For those that would like to investigate the matter in person, or just happen to have several million unused dollars lying about, the car is on sale at Prestige Cars in the United Arab Emirates.

An extra dose of naked carbon fiber across the front bonnet and rear engine cover, plus the rear fascia and diffuser gives the Vincero the look of the Sang Noir, which may in fact be the basis for this custom car. Only 15 of the Sang Noir special-editions were built, however, so it's more likely that this car is styled to look somewhat alike.

Largely blacked out, but with a sprinkling of chrome accents in the grille and a dark chrome treatment along the side of the car across the front fenders and door panels, the Vincero certainly lives up to its name.

Inside the car gets a typically Mansory two-tone black and white treatment, though the addition of a woven element makes for a unique touch.
